Amazing Tool
Used this for the angle cuts around my pool while I was making a deck. Worked like a charm. Made it simple to get perfect cuts every time. I just slid it to the pool edge and locked it into place. Once I had the angle I traced it onto my deck board and cut. I lost a lot less wood and saved me a ton of time and money. I wish they came in standard board widths so it made it a little easier but that’s just me trying to find something wrong with it. It’s durable and bright orange so you can’t misplace it.

I Love This Contour Gauge Tool!
I got this as a gift for Christmas and knew I could put it to use on various projects.I’ve used it on a few things now, and I don’t know how someone didn’t come up with one of these ages ago.It is simple to use:1. Open the hold down lever.2. Slide all pins to one side of the tool.3. Line the tool up with the piece being measured.4. Push it towards the piece.5. Close the hold down lever.6. Scribe the shape on the piece being put in place.The plastic pins are angled on the ends like little arrows so they come to a point to help get close to the base of the object being measured in case there are edges that jut out. The pins are about 1/16th of an inch wide, so this would not be useful for really tiny projects.The only change I would desire for this tool is for the pins to be made out of metal rather than plastic. Of course, that would increase the cost, but would definitely be worth it. And, maybe make them 1/32nd wide rather than 1/16th.

So useful and easy to use. My father always cardboard and a razor to make a gauge and it works but this would make his life easier and got this for his birthday.Its very precise, easy to set, and hold so much information accuratly to execute the right project with ease.

This contour gauge can be locked in position, which makes easier to store the profile while working on the reproduction in wood or metal if you have lost or cannot access the original shape.I recommend it.

Works great – I chose this one after borrowing a friend’s who had a different brand (don’t remember the name sorry) and while it contoured around whatever you wanted easily – it crucially didn’t have a lock mechanism (to keep the shape of what you are drawing out for cutting)I found while not unusable – the other contour gauge (without this lock mechanism) would often get slightly bumped out of place if I wasn’t able to cut the material in situ (right there and then) which as I do most of my cutting at a bench outside wasn’t ideal.This one comes with the tiny hex bar for adjusting the resistance of the contour ‘strips’ (for lack of a better word) though would have been nice to have this housed somewhere on the gauge (comes taped to the underside when you receive the item in its box).But the lock mechanism is the start of the show – which is integral to the gauge and is not another thing to loseIf you haven’t invested in a hex multitool of differing sizes – it’s probably time to – I have and it’s worth its weight in gold from assembling flat pack furniture to keeping my bike fittings tight and squared away to DIY projects etc. it’s why the loose hex key/bar that comes with this isn’t really a significant minus in my books – but if you haven’t got a multitool of various sized hex bars handy – you’ll need to keep the little one provided extra safe.I can see some projects – particularly if you’re contour gauging something that bends easily – like a thin plastic container for example – needing the contour strips quite loose so they do their job without pushing too hard or morphing the object you want it to measure around.Overall – really happy and worth looking at the seller options for a keen price as it does seem the Saker Contour Guage can vary in price by quite a bit.
