Christmas lights!
Just got done using this to put all my christmas light controllers in. I have a few of these types of boxes, but this might be my favorite so far! I really like that there is a fan built into this that actually feels waterproof. I have dealt with some fans on the back of boxes before that did not end up working that well. This box has everything I wanted plus more. I love the mounting hardware as it offers a lot of mount points. I would recommend this is you have a project that needs to live outdoors!

Box for the Apockolapse
Unboxing this was like being impressed and impressed and impressed all over again. This is a heavy duty electrical panel box – made from solid piece of plate steel. The door opening has a GrooVed lip that the door covers completely. The groove would keep any water from getting in – but the door also has a foam rubber gasket that closes on top of the lip for added protection. Hinges are super stout. I thought they were steel – (marketing says aluminum alloy). A solid steel cover / roof is included. 3 panels for din rail are wrapped inside box and need to be installed. All 3 will fit flat on inside back or any (and all) can be fastened as shelves. The locking mechanism incorporates a triangle bar that is turned to lock and unlock the box; the key is a triangle shaped socket that fits over the bar. So, it’s not a Fort Knox lock – but it is plenty sturdy and will keep honest folks honest. Nothing you can really do about the dishonest anyway. I kinda like that if I can’t find the key it’s not going to take me too long to get into. Stainless steel screens are included to keep creepy crawlies out of vents and openings. The finish is TouGh – I didn’t take a screw driver to it, but I did my best to scratch it with my finger nails – didn’t leave a witness mark. Nice strong well built enclosure
The enclosure meets the specs described by the mfr. it is IP65 rated, and the door gasket and lock make it secure. However, I would have preferred a lock hole on the box, so that you could add a padlock if desired. The enclosure does not have this. Also, you MUST lock the box- leaving it unlocked will not allow the door to remain closed- it will stay ajar by several inches. When installing items in the box, this can be a chore- constantly having to lock, reopen and lock the box again, every time you leave or return to the box. Having snap locking hinges on the open side of the box- rather than just having one side hinged, would have allowed you to seal the box without having to use the lock. This would also allow another individual to access the box (with your permission) without requiring the key. The enclosure is indeed heavy and solid, and is steel- so it will last a long time. The price point, in my opinion, is quite high. I have seen many with comparable features and size, selling for significantly less. Overall a nice enclosure, but missing a few things I would like, and a bit pricey (in my opinion).
