Good beginner set!
Loved most of it. Pins were not great, but the scissors were! Rotary blade was sharp and the acrylic ruler sturdy. Do not like that it’s all in metric…Would buy again.

Important Items to Review before purchase
As noted in prior reviews, the mat comes folded in half and it’s up to you to lay heavy items on it to try and flatten it out. So far, my mat is not flattening well.Also, the entire mat (both sides) are in metric. I had to Google the conversion to inches and mark it on the mat. A mst I bought years ago was in both MM and inches so I incorrectly assumed this new mat would be the same.The rotary cutter and scissors are good.

Basically a bunch of cheap unusable stuff
The mat came with instructions to store it flat to avoid it becoming permanently deformed. You will notice that it comes folded in half. Instructions are correct in that it will not lay flat. Heat and weight do nothing to improve the defect.The pins are worthless due to bent tips and burrs that will actually snag any fabric, just toss them in the trash. Carefully because the heads break off very easily.Rotary cutter arrived open with the sharp blade exposed and bent. You can put the replacement blade in but do this knowing that it won’t stay in the closed, covered position.I gave this 2 stars only due to the scissors being better than expected.

Don’t waste your money
I was excited about this, but when I finally got around to using it, it’s not that great. Unfortunately it uses the metric system, which I do not, as I learned in the US, and they don’t use the metric system. It causes a lot of looking up the conversions from centimeters to inches. I used another rotary cutter on this mat, and it sliced right through the mat. I’m disappointed in this after using it. It’s caused my trying to learn how to sew to be more complicated than it should be. Plus the mat is garbage, if a rotary tool can cut right through it, without much pressure. Needless to say, if I’d have had time to use this when I received it, I would’ve returned it for being a defective product. But unfortunately I wasted my money.
