I have been wanting a thread bowl for some time and I finally have it! Very nice, mostly smooth surfaces especially edges and the outside. I will however, snag some of hubby’s fine grit sandpaper and hit the inside of the bowl a bit, it’s not super rough but I can see it catching a little bit on my yarns. Bowl is about 6 x 3 Inches in size so it won’t hold a 1 lb skein, but I think it will be ok for the Cake/Mandala rolls, will just have to pull yarn from the top as normal instead of through the side of the bowl.

Kind of a novice at the crochet thing. Tension has always been an issue with me. This allows me to place a ball of twine in the bowl and give me the slack I need to have consistent stitches.

My daughter loves this bowl for her yarn balls. This is the second one I have bought her. The first one fell on the ground and broke. But they really are quite sturdy and well-made. Beautiful craftsmanship.

Didn’t work for my yarn
But it makes a stylish remote holder for my coffee table. It’s pretty and sturdy. My yarn kept getting snagged on the surface of the carving. Maybe it needs to be smoothed a little more.

Disappointing quality – Rough edges will snag/fray yarn
The edges of the yarn guide areas of the bowl are not finished properly and are very rough, causing the yarn to snag and/or fray if channeled through there. I’m referring to the swirly part and the holes. I should have paid more attention to the review which pointed this out. The inside and upper edge of the bowl are fairly smooth, so the bowl can be used that way, not guiding the yarn but just to hold the ball of yarn in place, but I’d be afraid to use it in the way these bowls are actually designed to be used. It’s a cute bowl but when a yarn bowl will ruin your yarn then clearly it does not function as intended. Not worth the money. I would not recommend it.

The bowl overall looks nice, BUT the cuts are very rough and the inside is not polished at all, to the point where the yarn wasn’t rolling properly. I had to wax the whole interior and the edge to avoid having that problem.I was expecting a higher quality finish.
