Beginner/Student Quality Sketchbook
For beginners/students, this would be a great sketchbook! For artists who can be a little more peculiar about their materials, this would be okay for quicker sketches, but not mixed-media or anything requiring many layers. For me personally, I found that the paper seemed to have too much ‘tooth’ when using with colored pencils, while at the same time not enough strength to handle multiple layers or blending; I used oil-based colored pencils and couldn’t get a solid, even layer down, or blend them like I can with other brands of paper. I found with multiple paint markers that there were no issues with bleed-through, and only minor warping.Solvent and alcohol based markers, however, noticeably soaked through to the other side, and while none of it ended up on the next page, I would still recommend having a scrap sheet in between if you plan on using (non-paint) markers. This also means you couldn’t use both sides of the page. Graphite also seemed to smear easily, but that can happen even with nicer brands. I didn’t try watercolors but I wouldn’t recommend it based on my other tests. The pages *are* thicker than comparable mixed-media sketchbooks.There are certainly better quality sketchbooks out there that can also handle mixed-media. But for simple sketching, or for beginners/students, this is a fine sketchbook. I do like being able to tear out pages, and how it’s able to lay flat. My favorite feature about this sketchbook is the white covers – they’re much thicker than the paper sheets and are white, lending themselves to being customized/painted really nicely. Other brands tend to have a (non-white) paper cover that I normally just cover with stickers.

Great for anyone that likes to sketch
I ordered this “MEEDEN 6″x8″ Sketchbook Paper Pad: 122lb/180gsm Spiral Bound Art Sketch Book with DIY Cover for Artists Adults – 60 Sheets Heavy Weight Hardcover Sketch Drawing Paper for Painting Sketching Writing” because I’ve started sketching again. I haven’t drawn in years so I’m just getting back into it. I’ve only done it for fun so I am not any type of professional artist.I’ve been using a fine tooth surface sketchbook while learning a new medium of colored pencils.I tried my first drawing tonight on this sketchpad and noticed there is a lot more deeper grooves and the paper is a little thicker. When I tried to use my blending pencil it didn’t work as well as on the other paper. Maybe I need more layers in order for it to work better.I started drawing with a regular number two pencil and then used my Prismacolor pencils for my test sketch. This was a quick drawing so I didn’t spend a lot of time on it.Overall I’m happy with the quality and size (6×8″). Sixty sheets are enough too.You can even decorate the covers because they left them plain white and blank.

A lovely gift-to myself!
I have recently started working with color and drawing. I want to try a small sketch or drawing a day, just to build my skills. Thought this book would make a nice little gift to myself. I really like it. The cover is a bright white with a “paper-like” texture but on heavy chipboard. I think I will probably draw something on it-once my skills improve. The pages are also a bright white. One side of the page is just slightly rough (like watercolor paper) and the other side is more smooth. They feel like a lightweight watercolor paper, but it does say “for dry media”. So I will probably not try watercolors or wet markers. Colored pencils will work great. The pages have a perforation to tear them out, that is not apt to just rip out without trying. The size is nice for travel. The wire binding is strong and smooth. No sharp edges.I am glad I ordered this and I may order another after I fill this up. I recommend it. Enjoy.

Nice sketch pad!
My teens go through sketchbooks like water, it seems. The MEEDEN sketchbook paper pad is a nice sketchbook for a reasonable price, especially since it’s a fairly large size and contains 60 sheets of durable, quality paper. The pages are thick enough that they don’t bleed if the kids want to use acrylic markers. The side spiral lets them flip the pages without having to rip anything out (always a plus). However, the perforated sheets do tear easily when they want to rip out a page. They’ve gotten into colored pencil art lately, and this pad is perfect for that. This is a nice sketch pad that lets my teens show off their creative side.

Sturdy Sketchbook with Thick Paper
This Meeden sketchbook has heavy weight pages that work well for pens, pencils, and even some light markers or watercolor washes without bleed-through. The spiral binding makes it easy to flip pages and keeps everything secure. I appreciate the large size and smooth texture of the paper for sketching and doodling. It is also really easy to pull it out cleanly, which I appreciate.Overall, it is a solid, reliable sketchbook that holds up to lots of creative sessions.

This is a nice big sketchbook with good quality paper. The paper is of a good weight for mixed media, and has a great texture for coloured pencils, graphite, and charcoal. I primarily use pencil crayons for my artwork, so this sketchbook fits my style really well. The wire loop binding allows the pages to open out completely flat. The cover is a blank white, with only a small silver logo, which allows you to make your own cover art. Overall, this is quite a nice sketchbook, and I’m going to have a lot of fun filling the pages.

The MEEDEN 9″x12″ Sketchbook Paper Pad is excellent. It is high quality sketch paper that is a heavy paper, has a good texture and is really nice to work with.With the hard cover, and the spiral binding, that makes it easy to fold the hold thing back as you work on a page while sitting somewhere.The perforations are longer than I’m used to seeing. Using a ruler as shown in one of the images is best, it counters the force so you don’t deform or irreparably damage the spirals.I love that it’s acid-free. The white is a fairly bright white.Although it says for dry media, I’ve had no trouble using it with acrylic paints.It’s a quality sketch book and I highly recommend it.
