Excellent sketchbook
This is a great sketchbook. The paper is a great thickness. I have used fountain pen and water brush on it with no warping at all or bleed through. The only disappointing part of the whole thing is that the pages are not perforated as referenced. There is no way to remove the pages from the book should you want to. To me, that’s a very minor issue. I do highly recommend it even though it is a little on the expensive side.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST
This is the ULTIMATE journal and sketchbook. From writing to painting, it just never lets me down.Beechmore seems to have two weights of paper and mine is the heavier 300gsm. The paper is thick and nothing gets through. I have no reason to do full watercolor washes in this as it’s mostly my journal (in which I paint often) — but it’s never even flinched when I’ve done these paintings. With almost 100 pages, it’s thick and will last me a good while. I bought two so I’m set for this year.Best of all, given the quality, they’re priced so nicely, especially compared to junky “watercolor journals” that buckle at the sight of water, or the high end sketchbooks like Koval or Etchr, which are indeed great sketchbooks but Beechmore stands up against them at a fraction of the price (again, assuming you are not drenching the page). I am fighting the urge to stock up on these and have 15 just sitting here as backup!I’ll never be without a Beechmore so long as this company produces this quality at a reasonable price! These are the companies to support!I just ordered the huge 11.6×16.5” sketchbook that has 160gsm paper, and am excited to use it, but haven’t as of yet. It’s enormous and I have high hopes for it. (Edit: I tried it. It handles regular painting fine but cannot handle any wet washes at all.)BEECHMORE — you need to make a watercolor journal! Please!

Nice alternative brand, looks professional, heavy paper, did not find perforations for tear-out
I was excited to receive this. I use a lot of notebook/sketchbooks, primarily from the two main brands architects carry. I use these for note-taking and sketching. The Beechmore is an exciting alternative. I have the A5 size which is perfect for taking on trips or keeping in my laptop bag. The paper is heavy and should work for a variety of media. The leather-like outside has a luxurious feel and I love the color of the deep green one I ordered. I am not sure about tearing out pages. I don’t see perforations, just the center binding string, so I’m not going to attempt to tear out a page. I would also say the paper color is not ivory, it’s just white paper. Nevertheless, it’s perfect for my needs – pencil sketching, looks great and it on par with the popular journal brands. I would love to see what other types this company makes. The wrapper says “London” and “Beechmore Books London” is embossed on the back cover. I would love to have confirmation this is made in England, but there is nothing anywhere that states country of origin.

Handles watercolor well! Love it!
I bought the drawing sketchbook before and loved it so I had to try this mixed media book. I used lots of watercolor to test it. Then I added ink doodles. The paper handled the watercolor very well, dried flat. Very impressed! Wished they made mixed media in the 8inch square and XL size.

I like the finish of the book cover and the pages.I was expecting the texture be like the cold pressed but it is smooth. Will be good for pencil sketching, might not be good for watercolor.

The back binding fell apart within on week of use. I had only used the first five pages of the journal. Can’t return it because I had entered personal information I wanted to keep. Very frustrating. Poor purchase!
