My Review of The Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser
Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser, purchased 3-2023 from Amazon.I wanted to add a few lines to my review after using the Longer Ray5-10 laser. I have been having a blast with it. I can now make things I never could prior to purchasing this laser. In conjuction with Lightburn laser software it is a great asset to my shop. There is a learning curve but so much help is available on the Youtube channels. I am amazed by this machine.When I received my Longer Ray 5-10 Watt Laser, I found it well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was easy. I purchased this Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser to help my daughter with a production laser engraving job she was working on. To accomplish this, I mounted the laser to a 3/4 in. thick hard flat compressed wood board and covered that with a 20 gauge steel plate. I made custom legs as I needed the rigidity and placed them so I could use them to align my engraving fixutre plate. I also moved the touch pad control up higher as I needed to slide my fixtrue in and out from the front.After installing lightBurn on my computer I quickly discovered that this is some great software. It was easy and intuitive to use. I was able to create her logo and engrave it on the first try. I almost couldn’t believe it. I was able to adjust the power and speed easily. I am engraving on the top of a 2″ diameter ABS plastic ball where the graphics are 1 1/2 inch wide. The Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser was able to do this easily. I adjusted the height on the laser modual to just clear the ball and pushed start and was pleasantly suprised to see it engraved the logo on top and down the sides of the ball witout a rotary table or a Z axis move. The precise laser beam does a great job. The ease of use of this laser and software is amazing. This is the first laser machine I owned. Before I began assembly, I had a couple of questions and Longer customer service was attentive and answered my questions in a timely manor.I was very impressed by the touch screen and its functions. I have a touch screen on my 3D printer and wanted one on my laser machine, and the Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser comes with one standard. I highly recommend this Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser. To show you how the Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser engraves on a ball I clipped the Longer logo and imported it into Lightburn and engraved it on one of the 2 in. diameter balls. See pictures. I still have to make 2 slide in fixtures and may include those after completion. Each fixture plate will hold 36 2 in. ABS balls. I also will make an enclosure wit a vent.Dale

Great product that is able to make so many things
This has been a great product for me and I have been able to make a ton of amazing projects from Valetine’s day cards for my granddaughter’s class, coaster for a ladies tea, and photo frames for a father daughter dance at my granddaughter’s school, gift card holders and so much more. It is very user friendly, was easy to set up and get started. It does the cuts in a very timely fashion. I am so glad to have this product and all the things that I am able to make with it.

Be careful of eye damage
Probably should have better set up instructions. It wasn’t real clear how to set the height of the laser head with the metal cylinder, I was wearing the protective glasses but my eyes are still sore after a little over 2 days.Other than that the product seems to work really well, figuring out the software isn’t easy but that’s the way it goes.

So much better than I expected
What can’t I say about this? I love this laser. Perfect for just starting out, or getting a bit more into it. Obviously, it can’t really hold much to the really fancy enclosed machines, but for a basic frame laser it’s much more than I expected. I got this around Christmas as a present to myself and had gotten such a good deal on the 10w. After setting it up, which was fairly easy, I was surprised at how powerful it was. My brother and I did some research to see what it could accomplish and while I haven’t personally tested how strong the laser is, it was much more than I expected. Overall the quality of the frame and laser seem pretty decent. It’s not terribly noisy when running, but the pitch can be quite annoying to some if you don’t like higher frequencies. The laser itself seems to be fairly accurate and cuts a nice clean line. Definitely recommend an air assist system or something to help with the smoke, which sadly it didn’t come with but they’re easy enough to find.

Ease of use
Taking getting used to be since I had the 2.5 w machine. So far it’s been a great addition to my word working being I can add more details. You can’t go wrong. 10w is on the horizon.

Horrible customer service and communications
Had problems with our new laser. There is not clear instructions to get it going. I had to learn most off of YouTube. The timing and consistency was still way off. So I tried to call Amazon and Longer 3d for help Amazon was good Longer 3d was horrible. First they never are able to accept a call then you leave a message they call back and send email about engraving when my problem at that point was cutting shapes for mother day crafts. So I kept trying research online. Finally longer 3d emails me back acts like they will help and kept sending me messages about cleaning the window on laser head. And wanting me to restart a machine that is less than 2 weeks old. Then they want to see my proof I bought machine so I sent it to them but I had already started a return. They send me a email about changing the motherboard that would have to take some time coming from china. I told them I could not wait so they said sent the date I bought it. Like I stole it or trying to scam them so I did that also. Thinking they would at least help me out somehow. And asked if I still had laser. I told them yes then when I sent the proof of purchase again it says return started so they sent back an email that they would help me with a return label. I wanted to get the extra options for my laser from longer 3d. I was going to just get a replacement but I think I will be looking at different companies now that I have had over a week of headaches from LONGER3d. Garbage customer service and communication.

This machine took some figuring out and made me crazy in the beginning and then I figured it out and it was working well…for a while. It was seamless and I was really excited. And then it started to have issues uploading the file so I would have to restart each time to get it to work, and then slowly but surely it stopped uploading the files at all. I can only assume it’s a firmware issue but when I try to update the firmware, I can’t do it because it’s a .exe and I only have apple products. So this machine that I had purchased so that I could make a side income is sitting and collecting dust. I’m beyond frustrated with this. If anyone could help, I’d be most grateful.

Emballage bien conditionné et protégé (comme on peut le voir sur ma première photo) 📦Concernant le montage c’est à la portée de tous avec un schéma de montage en 6 étapes bien expliqué en français et avec des images ainsi que des pochettes numérotées pour chaque étapes. Petite astuce que j’ai pris en vidéo pour le montage des vis de chaque courroies car j’ai mis un peu de temps avant de trouver cette astuce. Une vidéo est également disponible sur la carte sd 👍Ayant fait pas mal de recherches et comparaisons sur les graveuse laser j’ai rapidement pris en main la Longer Ray5 en utilisant le logiciel Lightburn (présent sur la Sd). 🔥Je me suis fabriqué un petit support avec une table sur laquelle j’ai gravé une matrice pour positionner mes gravures (voir deuxième photos) du coup je peux me passer de brancher un pc pour cibler ma zone de gravure. De plus la Ray5 permet avant de lancer la gravure de simuler la zone de gravure/découpe 👍Après quelques jours d’utilisation je suis déjà satisfait de pouvoir graver mais aussi découpé sans difficulté 🤩

Does anyone know the dimensions of the focus tool (the meta cylinder to adjust the height if the laser)?My guess is the manufacturer forgot to package one or.sent me a used one. Everything looks brand new so I’m assuming one just was not packaged

Laser potente e de boa qualidade, facil de montar, requer um bocado de aprendizagem para usar mas tirando isso é uma boa maquina, tive apenas um pequeno problema no encaixe de dois parafusos na parte de trás do laser.Recomendo totalmente e para o preço dificilmente se arranja um produto preço/qualidade melhor.

Als Neueinsteiger im Laser/Gravur Bereich, super Teil, Ultra einfacher Aufbau, lediglich eine Bebilderte Verkabelung fehlte auf der Anleitung aber es gibt ja YouTube :-),Gerade für den Anfang wenn man noch nicht sicher ist, ob es zu seinem Hobby werden könnte um ggf. später dann in ein Leistungsstärkeres Gerät zu investieren.
