One of the best every day backpacks that can carry your laptop (or large iPad)
I use this bag every day. Holds my 15 in MacBook Air in the laptop compartment, is durable (bought this to replace a 17 year old NF backpack), has compartments for nearly everything, two cup holders. My only complaint is it is not very big. My old north face backpack I could literally take two Europe on vacation for two weeks. This one I cannot do that, but for my every day normal use, it works fantastically.

Great backpack quality, I’ve been using it 2 months now.
This backpack is amazing and I really enjoy using it for classes! It distributes the weight evenly making for a great commuter backpack. Despite the price, it’s an amazing value. It’s very sleek and stylish and the zippers have held up well. A very functional purchase!

Great EDC laptop bag
If you’re using this as a simple EDC bag for a laptop, its pretty good. It fits a 15 inch laptop just fine. The durability would work if you’re probably not putting it through the ringer. My commute really isn’t too demanding, but for what it is, this bag is perfect. Enough room for a small jacket or hoodie and a lunch bag if you pack it right. I’d say its worth the money and the build quality is pretty strong. And I think it looks pretty good without being TOO tactical, and more urban cool, even with a name like RECON.

Perfect Everyday Backpack – Comfortable, Durable, and Smartly Designed!
I couldn’t be happier with my North Face Recon backpack. I use it daily for work and travel, and it’s hands-down one of the best backpacks I’ve owned. The laptop compartment is well-padded and fits my 15” laptop perfectly. There’s also plenty of space in the main compartment for books, clothes, or gear, plus a ton of smartly placed pockets to keep everything organized. The front pocket is great for quick-access items, and the fleece-lined pocket is perfect for sunglasses or a phone. The best part? It’s incredibly comfortable to wear, even when fully loaded. The padded straps and back panel provide great support, and the sternum strap helps with weight distribution. It also feels super durable—classic North Face quality. If you need a reliable, versatile backpack that looks good and performs even better, this is it. Highly recommend!

An Honest Review
While this backpack does the job well for as my everyday, go-to bag, there are a few minor points I believe any buyer of this bag should be aware. Please read this entire review.Pros1) This bag is very comfortable and versatile. The additional straps make it great for a heavy load, or long trips. The back cushioning is sufficient, the material is quite strong with good stitching, and the stretchy mesh has so far retained it’s elasticity. The bottom is especially impressive.2) It’s quite lightweight, which helps when you have a bunch of stuff to carry.3) It has a dedicated laptop section, and great organizational storage.4) Dual elastic water bottle holders. LOVE IT.Cons1) There could be more pockets and large sections. While this bag boasts a fair amount of liters of storage, what they don’t tell you is that a lot of that space is vertical, NOT horizontal. When I place all my college-ruled spiral notebooks in, there is a good 8 inches above them. Then again, that space is likely there for when you stuff the top pocket, but still, I believe there could be a better use of space. If you’ve ever had one of those big LLBean backpacks you’ll know what I mean. This is a large LOW PROFILE bag, it’s meant to be sleek, and that makes it look cool and less bulky, but you can’t shove too many binders in it.2) It does not stand upright. Like most backpacks, this one falls flat when freestanding. I’ve found this to be only a slight nuisance, yet noteworthy – you will definitely have to lean it against something or hang it.SummaryOverall, it’s a good bag, I paid for it at a steep discount (around $60), so for me, if the bag lasts, it was a well-worth purchase. I would highly recommend it to someone who usually carries most of their schoolwork or laptop with them, an urban commuter, a sometimes athlete who needs to go to the gym, or a day hiker. But this is not your “week going camping bag” or to bring all your binders along. For that, go with LLBean, Swissgear, or the next larger version of the Recon.

Durable. Great for college life.

Great weekend or overnight travel bag.
Love this bag! Huge capacity for 3 to 4 day travel. Large side pockets for extra carrying, plus mesh back for extra stuffing of things. Comfortable backpack straps. Might be too big for day hikes but great for weekend and overnight travels, or if you just like having extra space for daily activities.

I needed to decide the North Face Recon and the Osprey Nebula. The North Face has better Features and esprecially the Hip Strap is better thought through. I only choose the Osprey because of its 4L bigger size. If they were the same size, I’d have taken the North Face.
