this sketchbook had great paper quality and was very durable. the only thing is that my alcohol markers bleed through but otherwise this is a great sketchbook

High Quality Sketch Book in a Handy Size
I’m using Strathmore Charcoal Paper in a drawing class, and I needed something smaller for an assignment so I got this book because it was the size I needed (5.5×8.5 inches). The paper is a lighter weight than my 18×24 paper, and has somewhat less “tooth,” but it would still be suitable for charcoal sketches (I’m using graphite because it’s less messy). The pages turn easily because the metal coil is a good size, but the pages can also be torn out since there’s a very fine perforated edge on the sheets. I’m a drawing “newbie” so I showed it to my art professor, who verified its quality.

Perfect size!!! Tear out sheets!
Awesome size. Just exactly what I needed. Does smudge but I think it’s the pencils. Either way i really like the style. You can even tear out the page due to the perforated edges. I’ll buy another when I’m done with this one! Thickness is not as thick as other sketch notebooks I’ve gotten and the paper is totally smooth with no real teeth in it. It’s just right for practicing and sketching though. I like the spiral notebook style. Made me dive back into sketching! Does smudge though

The Strathmore 400 Series Sketch Pad is exactly what I needed for drawing and illustration. The 11×14 size gives plenty of space to work on larger sketches, and the paper holds up well to pencil, charcoal, and ink without smudging too easily. The sheets are thick enough to handle erasing without tearing, which is a huge plus for art class and practice.I also appreciate the spiral binding—it makes it easy to flip pages and lay the sketchbook flat while working. With 100 sheets, it lasts a long time and is great value for the price. Perfect for both beginners and experienced artists. I’ll definitely be purchasing this again.

First full sketchbook!
I watch “ Sketchbook Sokol” on you tube and it was recommended to by one sketchbook and fill it up before investing in more. This is the one I chose.I like the feel/ texture of the paper. I didn’t know to look for the description of what kind of media was recommended for this particular book, so I only use it for drawing with graphite pencils. That’s ok for me because I’m just starting my learning journey in drawing. I’ve been an artist my entire life with paints being the medium I am accustomed too.I’ve had to put a couple of sheets of paper between the pages as to not make impressions on the page underneath. I don’t know if this is a common problem but it is for me.The size is ok for small drawings with out a lot of detail.Overall I like it for my first sketches.
