Accurate and Slick Looking Bathroom Scale
A scale is a staple in every bathroom or bedroom in the world. Over the last decade or more, health and fitness has come to the forefront of people’s minds. There are more and more gyms popping up in towns across the country. Every time I drive, I see groups of bicyclists riding around. Also whenever I go to the park to play ball, the basketball courts are full, people are walking the trail, and the rec ball fields are full. Keeping up with healthy eating habits and regular exercise can be challenging to say the least.For me personally, one way to stay motivated on the journey to getting fit and losing weight is to be able to track my weight daily. I looked online to see what kind of scales were out there and to see what the differences were. I looked at dozens and decided on this Masmssm scale. Unfortunately, the batteries were not included, which is a little disappointing, but not a deal breaker. I am at the grocery store multiple times per week so for me to pick up a needed battery, it is not a big deal. Next, the digital display is bright and very easy to read. There are non-slip feet on the bottom of the scale which will keep it from inadvertently slipping on the tile floor. The scale weighs about 6 pounds.Now for the plethora of features this scale offers. Yes, this scale can take a weight and tell you what it is. But more than that, it can also tell you hydration level, BMI, muscle mass, and over 20 more metrics. The instruction manual and video on the product page are both valuable resources and will teach you everything you need to know to get the absolute most out of this scale. If you are into fitness and are interested in keeping track of multiple metrics this is the scale for you. This scale can accommodate up to 24 different users, so it could be a great tool for a sports team to use in their strength and conditioning program. This scale is ok for anyone that weighs less than 400 pounds and is HSA/FSA eligible. But the best part very well could be that the scale can connect to several different smartphone apps. Doing this will allow you to track daily or weekly results, check progress on your fitness goals, and if you want, you can share your data on social media. If you just want a simple scale to weigh yourself and nothing more, then this scale is probably not what you want. This is Masmssm’s model FG2202WB body weight scale. Like another of their lower cost model I reviewed recently this sale offers a lot; 28 body metrics, provided you use their proprietary app. There are significant differences offered by this model including data displayed on the retractable handgrip. Here are my observations: (↑ PROS, ↔ NEUTRAL ↓ CONS):↑ It’s a good size without being too large; about 12″ W x 13 3/4” L x 1 5/8” H (excluding the retractable handle).↑ Their proprietary Fitdays app lists syncing with Apple, Fitbit, Samsung Health and Google Fit apps, and Apple Watch.↑ Full 28 metric readings take a very short time and the app sounds completion. The handle screen’s readouts are clear.↑ The app immediately provides all 28 of the metrics. 18 metrics can be clicked for your status vs. “standards”.↑ App for this scale integrates a calendar; users can view past dates data; up to 24 multiple age mode users.↑ This scale, using the same Fitdays app, offered more data / more ways to view the data.↑ Stepping on the scale was very stable; I did not experience any tipping by stepping too close to the edge.↑ Body weight readings were consistency identical (for 100% of my attempts on different parts of a level floor).↔ I have the black scale; it is very sleek / looks great but really shows finger prints, smudges, etc.↔ to ↓ It first seemed scale or batteries were DOA. Worked after reinserting batteries several times. Hope it’s a fluke.↔ to ↓ I like the retractable handle but the mechanism’s operation has me wondering about its long-term durability.↓ REQUIRES to use of the manufacturer’s proprietary app (except for body weight) raising 2 concerns for me:—❶ Data privacy. Many people don’t have such concerns; I am cautious but less concerned using mainstream apps.—❷ Companies and apps have their ups and downs and come and go. With no app this is only a body weight scale.↓ The app’s metrics “standards” do not consider body type. For me the “ideals” are unrealistic and useless.Included are the required 4 AAA batteries and instructions. Make sure to read up on the required Fitdays app prior to making a purchase decision. The list price at the time of this review was just under $160 US and just under $110 using the listing’s online $50 off coupon. The price is actually just a bit higher compared to the other Masmssm model, and this one has many more features with better stability and weight measurement consistency. As a more risk-averse person I might keep looking at other options. However, despite my reservations regarding the long-term durability of the retractable handle mechanism, this “smart” weight scale offers quite a bit.
