Yarn winder
I’m glad I got this yarn ball winder as it has come in handy several times. It attaches to the table for stability with small amounts of adjustment to do so. It’s a good size to be able to take with me to my crochet group and use to wind up scrap balls. You won’t be able to wind and entire skein unless it’s those itty bitty ones. It’s not made of titanium but it doesn’t seem like it will break. Once you have it set up, a scrap ball winds up very quickly. I think if you need the ability to quickly and uniformly wind your small balls of yarn, this is a good value. It does the job.

This machine does not make good cakes of yarn.
This yarn winder does not make very good cakes. It has what would be a neat safety feature where it shuts off if it senses resistance of a tug, however it is so sensitive that the built in tension mechanism makes the machine shut off if pulling from a pile or from an untangled skein. The machine will only run if you hand feed it the yarn through the tension mechanism. Because of the lack of tension the cakes created are extremely loose, lopsided and with random loose loops. If it were a choice between the cakes this machine makes and the half finished loose skein, I would choose the skein.(I tested this with yarn sizes- 4-6. I made/remade the cakes 15 times in case it was user error because so often that’s the issue. It was not. The sensor for the tangles is so sensitive that it doesn’t allow the machine to create a nice firm cake. Immediately returning this.)

Takes a little getting used to to the get the tension right, but works well
Very functional winding tool. It is not perfect, but gave me much more consistent results than hand winding ever has. This winder is very easy to set up and use, but took me a few tries to get my tension right. It cranks smoothly and is pretty quick once you get going.Probably the hardest part for me was finding a table in my house that I could attach it to…our tables either have lips that kept if from sitting straight or I was afraid of damaging them. I finally found that I could just attach it to a cutting board and weight the board on my desk.This has been the perfect tool for getting all my small piles of crochet yarn organized. It now takes up less room and is so much easier to work with when I am ready to start a new project. Great tool for a low price!

Easy to operate, add-ins were nice!
I got so excited when I got this that I plopped down and used it immediately! I felt like the clamp firmly held onto the table, the winder moved easily, and the center dowel didn’t move. I worried the whole time that it would pop right out and I would be in tears, but I feel confident that I could use this many times and not worry about it coming apart.I did need to keep one hand on the other side of the metal arm to make sure there was tension on the yarn.The stitch markers and scissors were nice additions that I wasn’t expecting, and really didn’t need. The markers were not the colors that are in the photos and the scissors are a bit dull. BUT – if I were gifting this to someone who was just getting into yarn crafts, I think it would be perfect.

Waste of time and money.
The motor acts like it’s having a complete meltdown when ANY yarn is spun. With or without the spring tension control, it still does not spin. The motor acts like it’s been spinning for 30 years and it may just explode at any time. It won’t spin the thinnnnnest of yarns. Really disappointing but you get what you pay for I guess.Fast shipping.

Funktioniert gut und flüssig.Manschmal verdreht sich das garn etwas drin aber das ist einfach zu beheben und wenn man aufpasst kann man es super nebenbei beim Serien schauen benutzen.Ich empfehle es jedem weiter der gerne mit Wolle arbeitet 🙂
