excellent purchase, if you ignore the ridiculous cutting board/sink claims
If it was possible would have given 3.5 stars for ridiculous claims that it includes a cutting board and “rugged stuff sack that doubles as a sink”.- alleged cutting board is a teeny tiny circle of plastic that is really intended to prevent pans from scratching together (bottom is very roughly ridged to work with small cook stove). I did steal their idea and cut a plastic cutting board in much bigger circles to put between the pots and a frying pan I also purchased from GSI- the stuff sack is also VERY small, too small to wash any of the cookware. IT IS ALSO NOT WATERPROOF! it is thin taffeta-type material and water runs straight thru it. the stuff sack is so snugly fitted that it is a pain to put the pans in and out of plus doesn’t seem like it will hold up very long at all. That ridiculousness aside, I really like the set and was thrilled when I found it. I had seen the sets with the goofy pie shaped “bowls” and “cups” and didn’t want to waste money on that nonsense so was thrilled to find this combination with only the cookware. I’ve used the fry pan (very shallow and small but good to scramble two eggs) and one of the pots and both performed very well. I used a quick spray of olive oil before cooking and had no issues with food sticking.I love how compact and lightweight the set is when stored, exactly what I was looking for. Previous to the purchase I had decided that not being able to use them to cook on a fire wasn’t an issue for my needs as I’m cooking small simple meals and happy with just using my stove. They sat securely on my camp chef kodiak stove.Overall an excellent purchase, if you ignore the crazy cutting board/sink claims. If I find I also need a larger pot I will be purchasing one from this set since it all will nest together.

Bugaboo sets are amazing
Quick summary: just buy this. you won’t regret it.Who’s this for? Buy this if you have a family of 4 or less, and you’d like a car camping setup that fits entirely in just part of your car’s trunk. Camping is so much more enjoyable with lightweight, compact gear that does more than you expect of it.This is my third set of Bugaboo pans/pots. I bought my first set about 25 years ago and cooked for me and two friends on a 66 mile backpacking trip. I lost that set to a garage somewhere. This is the “Base Camper Small” set, and it’s really close to the backpacking sets in size and style. It includes one more pot than my most recent backpacking set (~10 yrs old). This new set is slightly heavier (610g vs 540g excluding the middle size pot and lid), and the lids are opaque. I prefer the clear lid on the old set. I was a little nervous about the temperature warning on the underside of the lid, but I fried the salmon without issue. While the pan was around 400F, the lid was only about 130-150F on the underside. The pans do not heat very evenly (you can see it on the middle edges of the salmon), but they heat up very quickly. A stove with a more spread out flame pattern than the one I used here would work better. These new locking handles should only be attached/detached when on a sturdy surface as they don’t go on with out a little help. Also, it’s a nitpick, but you can’t take the handle off of the hot skillet when it’s on a flat surface, because there’s no room to remove the handle. Propping it up on a dish towel or a wooden spoon works. I prefer the old pinch style handles of years past. I have an additional photo to show this set versus the backpacking set. I’m not sure if the new lid material will last or not. Everything I bought in the 2000s with soft-touch plastic had to be thrown away when the material degraded and became tacky. When plastic becomes tacky, it’s toxic. I assume industry has better materials now. Time will tell. In the meantime, you’ll have a really great cookset. With two pots and a skillet, you should be covered for almost any meal. Oh yeah, the non-stick on Bugaboo sets is outstanding. They always wipe clean with zero effort.

Very versatile & lightweight. Great for group camping meal prep
This is really a fantastic cookware set for group camping and/or a large family. The way everything nests together inside each other really packs a lot of cookware into a relatively small space with just about everything you’d need minus utensils to prepare food. The pots and pans are all very high quality, the lids have a soft touch rubberized coating that feels great along with being a perfect fit to their respective pots; the integrated strainer is a clever feature and one I see myself using often with just-add-water meal pouches. Everything in the set is very high quality, if anything it’s a bit of overkill with the differently sized pots, but since everything nests together so nicely it’s great to be able to prepare multiple items at once. This will be my go-to car camping cookware setup this summer and I highly recommend it to anyone else looking for high quality, lightweight cookware for group outings.

Love the drain holes
These are very good pans. I particularly love the drain holes on the lids. It was perfect to boil and drain pasta. I don’t have to carry a strainer any more! They are easy to clean. The handle closer to the pan gets hot, so we should be careful. It is great to have 2 pots with 2 lids as I can cook with them at the same time, but there is only 1 handle for 3 pans.

Amazing and beautiful
Obviously designed by a veteran camp cook, the Bugaboos are worth every penny. Nesting, stowing and easy-to-clean set aside, I’m going to say they are also more economical because of design and material content. These pans save fuel.

This set is much larger and much better quality than the individual sets I’ve used. That said despite the extra size it’s not heavy and it’s easy to just put in a bag or hang on the outside when hiking. The set packs up neatly and with rubber on the lids there is less rattling and noise than with my other kits. The only annoying thing is the handle is loose inside the small pot so I was worried it might scratch the inside of the pot so I put it into a spare pouch I had.One thing to be aware of is these pots are so much larger than the individual pots that I had been using that the mini butane camping stove I was using it too small to safely balance the pot. Fortunately I have a larger stove. There is only one handle that clips on and off easily so if the pots are securely balanced you can swap the handle from one the the other as you cook, though it would have been nice if they had included a second one and there is space in the kit to hold another one easily.I’m looking forward to using this set while camping over the summer.

The Bugaboo Ceramic Base Camper Large by GSI Outdoors is a solid camping cookware set that’s perfect for outdoor adventures. The pots and pans heat evenly, and the ceramic non-stick coating makes cooking and cleanup much easier. The nesting design saves space, and the included accessories are practical for a variety of camp meals. I’m giving it 4 stars because the non-stick coating, while effective, is prone to scratching if not handled carefully. It’s best to use non-metal utensils to keep it in good condition. Overall, it’s a durable, compact, and efficient set for anyone who loves cooking outdoors.
