A Bright Idea
I recently purchased the Gearlight Sunlight lanterns two pack when Amazon had them on sale. I was pleasantly surprised at how well just one lantern lit up my living room with an open kitchen. Definitely enough to weather a temporary power outage. Two lanterns will light up the area quite nicely. Since the number of lumens are not documented anywhere, I would estimate that the lanterns shine about 300 lumens. The brightness can be adjusted by raising or lowering the center column of a lantern. The column is quite secure in its movement. It stayed just where I put it. There is no light switch. The lantern turns off when you lower the column all the way into the base.One nice touch is the inclusion of six Duracell batteries by Gearlight. They should last a short time while you see how well your lanterns will work for you. Unfortunately, the batteries are made in China so they probably will not last as long as batteries made in the USA. Only batteries made in the USA are warranted by Duracell, and will outlast batteries made overseas. This has been well documented. You probably should purchase additional batteries for your lanterns upon your receiving them so that you will have a set ready to use when the enclosed batteries wear out. Be sure you purchase batteries made in the USA whichever brand you get.All in all, I recommend these small lanterns very highly. They provide an amazing amount of light for their size, and they are quite well made. A Bright Idea? Try and catch them when they are on sale at Amazon. If you can get them for $19.99, then they are quite a bargain.

These lanterns are great in every way! They look good, are easily porable and the size is perfect. Can be very bright or dimmed as needed. Easy and reliable. So glad to have had them through multiple power outages during storm seasons in Fl. Great price. Bought 2 more.

Following is the letter I just sent to GearLight:My first purchase of GearLight product was about 3 years ago when I thought your 2-pack of Zoomable Tactical Flashlights looked promising. I ultimately found more use for the zoom feature than I had imagined, and light was incredibly bright.Based upon that good experience, when I needed some emergency lights, I tried your LED powered Lamp Lights with Magnetic base and Foldable Hook. Another WOW.I don’t make it a practice of purchasing untried products in packs of 2’s but, based upon 2 previously excellent experiences, I ordered a 2-pack of LED Pocket Pen Lights. After inserting the 2 AAA batteries and flicking them on, I was amazed at how bright such small flashlights could be. That’s a solid 3 out of 3 for GearLight!!!But what particularly topped off the experience was the warranty card included in the package — that if there was a problem, it would be addressed within 24 hours and that there would be “hassle free replacement” with “no return required”.Your LED lights are now a staple in different rooms in this household. Thank you for such a wonderful and dependable product.
