My first 3D printer, it works well and is easy to use
My first 3D printer, and it just worksAfter much comparison shopping I settled on the Creality HI Combo.Arrival and assembly: As a first time 3D printer novice I was pleasantly surprised at how well the printer was packaged.Assembly was straight forward, insert the gantry, secure six screws, connect a few well marked connectors and it was done in probably less than 10 minutes. Adding the CFS was also simple, The only question was which cable went into which port. As it turned out it didn’t matter, but it would have been helpful to eliminate any confusion by providing information on this part. Placement of the CFS feeder also left a little too much to imagination. If I were to do it again, I would place the part a little lower on the side of the gantry (with the boudin tube coming out about mid point on the gantry). Overall a very sturdy piece of equipment.First startup: Turning on the printer and waiting for it to go through its initial startup process was fairly lengthy (I can only guess because I have no previous printer for comparison) but since it is only a one time event, it is what it is. The only issue was the printer runs through its complete diagnostics, then goes out to look for any updates. Of course it finds an update, installs it and then because it is updated it goes through the complete diagnostics a second time. I would think it would look for updates first then run diagnostics just once (It is a new toy and I was anxious to start playing).First run: I dispensed with running the standard tug boat test and proceeded directly to printing things I would actually use.Creality Print Software: I have no other slicer to make comparison, however I find the slicer fairly easy to work with, though not fully intuitive. There are many features and options to customize your projects some come with pop ups that briefly describe what the feature does, some are more cryptic, maybe it is just because I am new to the hobby. Some features have no pop up instructions, so I will just leave them at the default until I am more knowledgeable.2 weeks of use: over the past two weeks I have printed 36 projects. The shortest was 8:13, and the longest was 8:18:27, with a total run time for all projects at 52:54:51. I printed 14 multicolor projects all with no errors or failures. The only change I made to the default settings was to change the layer height from 0.2mm to 0.12mm. This makes very nice prints with no apparent layer lines.Materials used for my projects: As a new comer I have only been using Creality filaments. Mostly Hyper-PLA, but also CR-Silk, and CR-PLA.Summary: As a new hobbiest, I am pleased with this purchase I find the addition of the CFS combo makes this a pleasure to operate. I would purchase this again , and would recommend it to others. My only issue is I would like Creality to provide a comprehensive user manual to include recommendations on maintenance and service items that I need to do to maintain the printer. This could be a PDF on their web site. Also I have not been able to figure out how to register the printer with Creality.

K1 SE
I bought this K1 SE after literally months of working with Creality support on problems with my Ender 3 V3 SE, and it has been perfect so far for my purpose of producing engineered part assemblies. The frame is gusseted and square, the hot bed is flat and the speed, ease of use and production quality are surprising given the price point. You’re best off using this with Creality Print 6.3 to unlock all the features of the machine. It can also be rooted (voids warranty) for use with Mainsail and Fluidd. My K1 SE took a few prints before it really started performing well, giving dimensionally accurate prints with nice surface quality. The HyperPLA filament spool that comes with the machine doesn’t seem to perform as well as Creality PLA, and some temperature and speed tuning will be necessary, as with any precision tool being set up in a new environment would require. Also, there are no instructions for use, but DO NOT use the “metal grease” or “thermal grease” that comes with the tool kit to lubricate the X axis rails. Those are only for the Y and Z axis rails and lead screws and hot end to be used sparingly during regular maintenance. If you have to deal with customer support, keep in mind they have no clue how much you know, and will need to start with basic troubleshooting, so be kind and patient because it is a process and the time and language differences can make it seem slow. They will help you if you document your issues with videos and precise descriptions of the problems and when they occur. Just be patient and respectful and you will get great support. Keep in mind, they don’t have a service center for warranty repairs, so it’s all DIY repairs, but they will send you new parts for free. It is not their policy to exchange or return machines, so temper your expectations on their support capabilities. They gave me a significant discount on this K1 when all attempts to fix my Ender failed.
