I have tried to use electric yarn winders before but each time they have jammed. BUT NOT THIS ONE! WORKS GREAT! I even used it with size 6 thickness and it did not jam! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ELECTRIC WINDER!!!

Love it! Works like a dream! So happy with my little yarn cakes.If I was forced at gunpoint to come up with a negative, it would be that threading it through the top can take a couple seconds, but it is well worth it to not have to hand crank or hand roll up yarn.

Gets the job done
This winder is well-made, and the directions included are clear and easy to follow. I initially had some trouble getting a good cake wound up, but with some assistance from customer support I was able to identify the issue and it’s been fairly smooth sailing since then. I like that it has a larger capacity than a lot of yarn winders. It does require some babysitting while running and it’s critical that the yarn not have any knots/tangles. I took off a star because the winder is able to pull some tangles through and–if you don’t stop it quickly enough–those tangles will get wound into your cake. I think that’s just a reality of an electric winder, though. The winder seems to work best if winding directly from a hank or center-pull skein. It’s much trickier if you’re trying to wind loose yarn that is more prone to tangling.

I bought this winder after having ripped out a pattern that I didn’t like. I could imagine beginning to wind the yarn in a ball by myself!! This winder was fabulous!! In no time the messy pile of yarn was transformed into a fabulous cake. I can’t wait to use it on my other yarns!!

I wanted an electric yarn winder for a long time and I wouldn’t buy one because the reviews were not good and I didn’t want to buy junk. I only use Bernat super bulky size 6 yarn and I am blown away by how well this works. I can’t believe I was manually winding this whole time when I could’ve been using this. If you’re on the fence, I swear it works the instructions say that you have to skip the first spring if you’re using bulky yarn and I think that might be what some people do wrong with some yarn winders, I am not sure, but I love this and I want to wind my entire stash so I’m gonna be here for a while, but definitely not as long as before when I was doing everything by hand!

Easier winding than a manual, worth the price!
Winder is so much easier to use than a manual. I definitely suggest monitoring the progress for knots. Also whith chenille yarn i suggest skipping the first spring as per instructions, my first sheen snapped the yarn when it hit a knot. Also pull think yarn ends till you can pull freely, then wind.

As a person who has been knitting for 40 odd years, I can say a yarn winder is a life-saver. No matter how lovely your partner is, no one wants to sit holding your yarn for an hour while you wind it up by hand. This was really easy to set up, one small screw in the bottom to connect the yarn tensioner and a quick twist of the wrist to get the center cone holder on and you are pretty much ready to go. The winder works at a slow steady pack and make a lovely cake of yarn in just a few minutes. I have tried it out with lace weight yarn, fingering weight yarn, sport, DK and Worsted and it worked fine for each one. I did not have any Bulky or Chunky weight or textured boucle yarn to test.The only thing I would suggest is that as the cake gets bigger, you slow down the speed so that the cake doesn’t fly off the machine. The speed goes fairly slowly which is great for the learning curve, it gives you a chance to react to any knots or twisted skeins that bind up the machine. At full speed it is still steady and smooth, although it does make noise, so its not something you’d probably want to run around sleeping husbands or babies.It charges quickly and the charge lasts for quite a while, I’ve wound up 8 skeins ranging from 460 yards to 150 yards and its still going. The USB cord is long enough to reach to a power bar without too many issues, I hate it when they are so short! It is solid plastic with metal attachments and has a good weight to it, and seems durable.As someone who crafts 24/7 and owns a vast amount of yarn this is a great tool for my yarn room. It saves my arthritic hands some work, and leaves me with hands able to knit and crochet for a longer time.

I’m super impressed, it’s truly cordless. It was super easy to set up, I struggled to find a counter that had a deep enough ledge for the clamp to be secure as my table has a lip (I had to open a cupboard and use that). I only had to peek at the instructions to figure out where the yarn is threaded through, everything else was pretty self explanatory. It works with thicker fuzzy chenille yarn. I kept the speed on low for the first part until I was sure it wasn’t going to get tangled and then sped it up a little, I don’t think there’s any reason to go full speed. I’m impressed, I have a manual winder and it is much more complicated to set up and doesn’t wind as well because there isn’t constant steady tension.
