Terrific mixed media sketchbooks. The paper thickness of pages hold up well to wet and dry, don’t leak through to the next page, & come in multiple sizes. It’s easy to tear out a page to frame your masterpiece or tear it up and use for collages. The spiral binding allows easy access . I’d recommend for a lower priced book that works well.

Great buy for practicing watercolor techniques.
This has quickly moved up to my favorite “practice” watercolor painting pad. Lets be real for a minute: watercolor paper is EXPENSIVE!!! So instead of using actual 140 lb WC paper every time I want to just play around with WC, Ill use this (guilt-free). I use it mainly to practice painting a certain flower or different styles of watercolor, for getting an idea of a painting I am wanting to do, or for trying out different color palettes, new colors, new brushes, different techniques, etc. I refuse to waste my REAL, high-quality, EXPENSIVE WC paper on this. I just want to reiterate this: This is NOT specifically made for watercolor painting, so if you’re looking to apply layer after layer, puddle after puddle, this is NOT that type of paper. NOTE: the last photo I enclosed gives you an idea of this paper pad compared to Strathmore, hot pressed, 140 lb WC paper. The biggest difference (to me) is the WC dries MUCH faster & a bit differently. This pad will bleed colors through water but differently & less vigorously than real WC paper would (if that makes sense, its hard to explain). But it still remains my favorite to practice with.

I really like this spiral sketchbook. I use it to try different techniques and compose. The 5.5 x 8.5 inches is a nice size to experiment without using your expensive paper. I was very pleased that the paper was thin but had some rigidity.

Thick pages
The pages of this book are a lot smoother/thicker than my previous book from a different brand. The pages in the other book felt like paper, this book feels like cardstock. Looking at the back of the page, you can see that you outlined in marker, but it does not bleed through. This will definitely be the one I buy from now on.

For 20 dollars, it does its job! It *is* mixed media, so it can hold wet and dry mediums on its pages but for 110 lb paper, it warps a LOT. I used gouache for my painting’s and already I can see my book won’t close all the way down now. Even with gouache and not using a ton of water to spread the paint, my pages are all over the place now lol. That being said, it holds colours really beautifully and sketching on the paper is really nice. For a sketchbook, it’s good! But I’m not sure if you wanted to paint prints for sale, etc, you’d want to use this book.

Based on what I’ve been able to find in local art stores these are perfect. They are LARGE though – 9 x 12 but that’s what I was looking for. The mixed media paper is great for note taking and handles acrylic paint easily and mediums easily. I use mine to keep a record of ideas, projects, and to capture learning experiments from books and videos.

Funktioniert sehr gut. Das Papier kann auch mit ein wenig Wasser umgehen und hat auch eine angenehme Struktur. Die Farbe ist auch schön natürlich und nicht so hartweiss. Das einzige, der Einband ist nicht so ansprechend, hier wäre ein einfaches Schwarz eleganter. Super auch das die Seiten einzeln heraus getrennt werden können.
